Terms of Service

These Terms of Service are a legal agreement between you and Roadsy, the developer identified in the applicable app-store listing. They include the End User Licence Agreement (EULA) below and govern the Roadsy Android app, roadsy.app, and related services. The app requires you to accept the Terms presented during setup. See Changes and contact below for how later revisions apply. If you do not agree, do not use Roadsy.

Eligibility and international availability

Roadsy may be made available in multiple countries and regions. Availability, features, units, and language support may vary. You may use Roadsy only where and in a manner permitted by applicable law. Roadsy may restrict availability where reasonably required by law, sanctions, export controls, security requirements, or service limitations.

You may use the app only if you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement and meet any minimum-age requirements that apply to you. Roadsy does not verify a driver’s licence, residence, citizenship, or age. Do not use an account after Roadsy has suspended or terminated it.

If you use Roadsy for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization. Consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived continue to apply.

The service and availability

Roadsy is a local-first driving journal. An account is required to record your own drives. Journeys are stored on your device. Some earlier versions or designated test accounts offer sample data; sample journeys are not evidence of your real driving. Feature availability depends on your installed app version, device, account, plan and region. During testing, features may be incomplete or change. Roadmap items describe plans and may change, be delayed or be cancelled.

In the journal app, Free users can open recent drive details for 72 hours after a drive ends. Older records remain stored locally until deleted; verified Pro access unlocks retained older details. An access limit does not itself delete the local record. Earlier app versions can have different retention rules, described in the Privacy Policy. Export important information before removing app data or changing devices.

Private cloud backup in the journal app requires an account, verified Pro access and explicit enablement. Signing in alone does not enable backup. Pausing backup stops new uploads but does not erase existing cloud copies. Privacy controls, local personal-data export and account-deletion requests remain available without a paid subscription.

Automatic recording is optional and depends on permissions, device conditions and eligible access. It does not guarantee that every drive will be recognized, started or completed. City downloads support multiple selected places; completeness and availability depend on public road data and provider capacity. Make purchase decisions based on the features and offer shown before purchase. Material changes to a paid service remain subject to the notice and remedies required by law.

Drive first, app second

Do not hold, configure, read, or interact with Roadsy while driving. Set up and mount your device before moving, obey traffic laws and road conditions, and stop somewhere lawful and safe before reviewing the app. You remain solely responsible for controlling the vehicle and deciding whether it is safe to drive.

Roadsy is not navigation, an emergency service, a collision-warning system, professional driving instruction, legal or insurance advice, or proof that anyone is safe or unsafe. GPS, sensors, maps, speed estimates, detected events, confidence values, and scores can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Never rely on Roadsy to identify a speed limit, hazard, emergency, or lawful driving action. A score does not certify driving ability or guarantee improved safety, lower insurance costs, or any particular result. Do not change your driving to improve a score, complete a challenge, or compete with another user at the expense of safety.

Accounts and security

When you create or use an account, provide accurate information, keep your credentials and device secure, and promptly notify hello@roadsy.app of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity through your account to the extent permitted by law.

The country you confirm for an account is self-declared and is used for account administration, legal notices, service availability and regional defaults. Depending on your app version, setup can suggest a country from an approximate IP lookup, your selected city or device locale. Review and correct that suggestion before saving. It is not verified residence, citizenship or current physical location. Roadsy does not require a province, territory or street address for account setup.

After authentication, you must confirm your country and explicitly accept the Terms presented in the app before account features are enabled. Roadsy privately records the accepted document version and server acceptance time as described in the Privacy Policy. Use the country control in versions that provide it, or contact support to request a correction.

Roadsy may require email verification or recent authentication for sensitive actions. You may not transfer, sell, rent or share an account in a way that defeats security or eligibility controls.

Licence and intellectual property

This section is the End User Licence Agreement (EULA) for the Roadsy app and forms part of these Terms. Roadsy grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control for lawful personal use, subject to these Terms and the applicable app-store terms. The licence may end or be restricted in the circumstances described under Suspension, termination, and account deletion, subject to mandatory consumer rights.

Roadsy software, branding, visual design and original content are protected by intellectual-property laws. Except where applicable law or an open-source licence permits it, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, bypass protections for, or reverse engineer Roadsy. These Terms do not transfer ownership of Roadsy technology, branding or content. You retain your rights in your own journal and other content.

Third-party and open-source materials remain subject to their own licences. OpenStreetMap data is provided under the Open Database Licence. Google Maps features are subject to the additional terms identified below. Any maintenance and support Roadsy provides is available through Roadsy support; this EULA does not make Google responsible for supporting Roadsy.

Community content and sharing

Community is planned for a future release. This section applies only if Roadsy makes Community available to you or retains content you previously shared.

You retain ownership of text, profile material, and other content you submit to Community. You grant Roadsy a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format, transmit, display, and make that content available to the audience you select, and to secure and moderate the service. This licence lasts only as long as needed for those purposes, subject to reasonable backup, legal, security, and moderation retention. It does not give Roadsy permission to publish your private trip records or use them for research.

You must have the rights and permissions needed for content you submit. Do not publish unlawful, infringing, abusive, deceptive, threatening, discriminatory, privacy-invasive, or dangerous content. Do not include another person’s personal information, an exact address, or sensitive route details without authority. Even audience-limited recipients can copy or redistribute what you share.

Roadsy may limit distribution, remove content, preserve relevant evidence, or restrict accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, respond to reports, protect people or the service, or comply with law. Where appropriate, you may request a review at hello@roadsy.app.

Acceptable use

You may not use Roadsy to break the law; stalk, harass, threaten, discriminate against, or track another person without authority; interfere with a vehicle or emergency response; gain unauthorized access; probe or defeat security; scrape or overload the service; transmit malicious code; impersonate another person; manipulate service records deceptively; infringe rights; or help anyone do these things.

You may not use Roadsy data to make unlawful or unfair decisions about another person. Roadsy is not designed for insurance underwriting, employment discipline, fleet enforcement, credit, or legal adjudication.

Privacy

The Roadsy Privacy Policy explains what information Roadsy handles, its purposes and recipients, retention, and the choices available to you. Android location permission permits the requested recording functions; it is not consent to optional analytics or an unrestricted right to disclose your routes.

Usage analytics and privacy-filtered crash reports have separate controls. Journal builds with regional privacy defaults require explicit opt-in in the EU, the additional protected regions described in the Privacy Policy, and when the region cannot be determined. Elsewhere, those builds apply their defaults after setup unless you have opted out. Earlier versions may use different defaults shown in their controls. You can turn either service off in Settings. Publishing these Terms does not itself enable either service or create analytics consent.

Roadsy does not intentionally include exact routes, coordinates, account IDs, trip IDs, credentials or free-form text in optional telemetry. Provider metadata and pseudonymous installation identifiers can still be personal information. Turning collection off does not automatically delete records already received by a provider. Crash reporting changes can require an app restart to take full effect.

Subscriptions and purchases

Roadsy Pro is offered through optional monthly and annual auto-renewing Google Play subscriptions when a live store offering is available. Eligible users may receive a 14-day introductory trial of the full Pro subscription. Eligibility, trial duration, included features, localized price, currency, billing period and renewal terms are shown in Roadsy and confirmed by Google Play before purchase. A trial renews into the paid subscription unless cancelled under the terms shown by the store. Do not assume eligibility based only on a promotional screen.

Some earlier versions offered a separate, no-card automatic-detection preview. That legacy preview was not a Google Play subscription or the current full-Pro trial and did not renew. Its terms apply only to versions and users that actually received that preview.

Store terms presented at purchase also apply. Roadsy activates Pro only after verification against the signed-in Roadsy account. Store confirmation alone may not immediately unlock access. Pending payments, grace periods, account holds and expiry can affect access according to the verified store status and applicable purchase terms.

A subscription bought through Google Play is billed and renewed by Google Play until cancelled. Use Restore purchases with the Roadsy and Google Play accounts used for the purchase. You can manage or cancel it in Google Play subscriptions. Cancellation normally stops future renewal while access continues for the period shown by the store. Refunds follow Google Play rules and applicable law. A verification error does not remove a remedy Roadsy must provide by law. Contact hello@roadsy.app if a paid purchase does not activate.

Deleting a Roadsy account does not cancel a Google Play subscription, and cancelling a subscription does not delete your account or local records. Subscription ownership remains with the Roadsy account that made the purchase. A restore into another Roadsy account may be blocked. Contact support for verified ownership recovery; transfers are not guaranteed.

Third-party services and Google Maps

Roadsy relies on providers for accounts, optional private backup, notifications, diagnostics, maps, approximate IP location, public city road data, website delivery, analytics, support, email updates and published content. Providers may change or interrupt their services. Third-party links do not mean Roadsy controls their content or practices.

Google Maps can load automatically when you open a map-containing screen, including onboarding and the journal's core map screens. It is separate from Roadsy's optional analytics controls. Your use of Google Maps features and content is subject to the Google Maps End User Additional Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.

DB-IP supplies approximate city and country hints from a public IP address. Public road search and packages use OpenStreetMap data through Nominatim and Overpass services. These hints and maps are not proof of residence, a guaranteed complete road inventory or a navigation service. See the Privacy Policy for the information involved.

Availability, changes, and communications

Roadsy may maintain, update, limit, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service for reasonable operational, security, legal, or product reasons. Material changes to paid features remain subject to the notice, cancellation, refund, and other remedies required by applicable law. Roadsy does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device, or preservation of information beyond the retention rules described in the Privacy Policy. Keep an independent export of information you need. Uninstalling the app, losing a device, deleting data, or expiry of a retention period can make records unavailable. A later upgrade or restored subscription cannot recreate information already deleted under the applicable retention rules.

Roadsy may send service, security, legal, account, active-drive, drive-result, backup, weekly-recap, moderation, and subscription communications where needed to provide the service. Product tips and Pro offers are optional, can be turned off, and follow the consent and unsubscribe requirements that apply.

Suspension, termination, and account deletion

You may stop using Roadsy at any time. You may request account deletion in the app or through the account-deletion page. An accepted request restricts affected account services and makes existing Community content unavailable. The deletion process includes a 30-day cancellation period before the cloud account becomes eligible for permanent deletion. Processing and verification may take additional time; contact support for the status of your request. This does not limit any deletion deadline or other right required by applicable law.

Use an available in-app cancellation control or contact privacy@roadsy.app before the cancellation period ends. Signing in again does not cancel a request. Local trips remain on your device until you delete them, clear the app's data or uninstall the app. Cancel Google Play subscriptions separately.

Roadsy may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary for a serious or repeated breach, unlawful conduct, a security threat, non-payment, provider or legal requirements, or protection of users and the service. Where practical and lawful, Roadsy will provide notice and an opportunity to appeal. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits and dispute terms, will survive.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roadsy is provided “as is” and “as available.” Roadsy disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, error-free scoring, and data availability. Roadsy does not warrant that a score, event, route, map, speed, report, or other output is complete or suitable for insurance, employment, fleet discipline, a legal proceeding, or an emergency decision.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, condition, remedy, or consumer right that applicable law does not permit Roadsy to exclude.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roadsy and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss, or for loss of profits, opportunities, goodwill, or data, arising from Roadsy or these Terms, even if advised that such loss was possible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Roadsy’s total liability for all claims arising from the service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Roadsy for the service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and CAD $100. These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada. This choice does not deprive you of mandatory consumer, privacy, or jurisdiction rights that apply where you habitually reside. Nothing in these Terms limits any right that cannot lawfully be waived. These Terms do not require arbitration.

Before starting a formal claim, you and Roadsy should try in good faith to resolve the issue by contacting hello@roadsy.app. This request does not shorten or suspend a legal limitation period.

General terms

If a provision of these Terms is unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your account or these Terms without Roadsy’s consent. Roadsy may assign these Terms as part of a lawful reorganization, financing, or transfer of the service, subject to applicable notice and consumer rights.

Changes and contact

Roadsy may update these Terms prospectively. A new effective date will be shown, and material changes will receive reasonable notice. Publishing a newer version on this website does not by itself replace a version you already accepted in the app. The version you accepted continues to apply until a change takes effect through renewed acceptance or another process permitted by applicable law. The app will request renewed acceptance when required. Changes do not retroactively reduce rights that already accrued. Earlier versions remain available in the Terms archive.
